The Driftwood Caravan Super Pin is a product of my continued fascination with 1960’s Longboard design, Nat young’s Magic Sam, Hip turns and fast, down the line speed. I consider this the 2.0 version of my original SAM. I moved the wide point forward a tad, gave the bottom a bit more belly, filled out the rail and domed the deck. Out of all of my longboards, this shape is definitely the most three dimensional. It’s basically a big displacement hull.
The key characteristics of the Super Pin are its fuller (yet still foiled) 50/50 rail, rolled bottom and deck that blends into a vee just forward of the fin box, low rocker and wide point just aft of center.
I like to shape these boards at lengths anywhere from 9’0 to 10’6.
